Now that autumn is in full effect, you may have noticed that some of those yellow, brown, and orange leaves from the trees are starting to fall off. While this creates beautiful scenery, not taking care of those leaves can have consequences; for instance, they can easily catch fire. This is why this post will go over some tips to help you rake those leaves expertly and prevent a mishap.

How to Rake Leaves Efficiently

  1. First, go little by little. You don't have to rake your whole front lawn every day. Instead, clean those high-traffic areas (i.e. your driveway) regularly and allow some buildup in other parts before raking them.
  2. Check the weather before you start removing the leaves. If the day will be windy or rainy, it may not be the best time to perform this task.
  3. It's a good idea to have a plan for your raking task. For instance, decide which part you'll be cleaning, how much time you'll spend on it, and more.
  4. If possible, get someone to help you with this task. Obviously, this will make the burden smaller on you, and you'll be able to finish in half the time.
  5. Needless to say, you need to have the required tools with you. You'll need a leaf rake and several plastic sheets where you can collect the leaves.
  6. You should also stay protected for this job. For instance, wear long pants, gloves and boots to avoid insects or twigs that may scratch or bite you. Likewise, use a hat and sunblock to protect your skin.
  7. Don't rake all of your leaves to one spot. Instead, set up different plastic sheets around your yard where you collect different piles so you don't waste time dragging out leaves through great distances.
  8. Finally, remember to take care of yourself. Mind your posture as you rake, take breaks, and drink enough water, so this cleaning session doesn't get the best of you.
