November is almost over and we can really start to feel the chilly weather coming. During this drop in temperature, we’re sure you’re doing everything you can to stay warm. An easy way to keep the cold out and the heat in is by insulating your home properly. If you’d like to learn how to do this, follow these tips Zott Construction DKI in Stormville has prepared for you!

How to Keep Your Home Warm

Seal and Caulk

Check that precious heat isn’t exiting your home through any cracks in the roof, floor and walls, or through any openings around door and window frames. If you find any, seal them or caulk them to keep your house warm.

Cover Up

Even if you have windows that close perfectly, you may still feel the coldness come through the glass. If this is the case, put up some heavy curtains and drapes, and keep them closed to prevent the chill from coming in.

Double Glaze

Double glaze your windows. This means that your windows will have double glass window panes instead of just one, providing a thicker barrier between you and the cold. This can be a costly renovation but it will translate into lower electricity bills.

Protect the Attic

You should also think about getting your attic insulated. Adding some layers of fiberglass wool to your roof will make your whole house a lot warmer, despite how freezing cold it is outside!
